The following are the types of acid-free scrapbooking pens:

  • Felt-tip pen / Marker Pen – a pen that has its own ink-source and a tip made up of a porous material such as felt or nylon. Felt tip pen / marker pen can be used for writing titles, journals, etc. Tip styles are as follows:

oFine tip pen – has a very small tip which is usually measured in millimeters (ranges from .005mm to .08mm). This is great for outlining, adding details and doing your scrapbooking journals.

TIPS ON STORING SCRAPBOOKING PENS

If you want to use storage drawers in organizing your scrapbooking pens, be reminded to place it horizontally so that the ink will be distributed evenly. However, if you are on a tight budget, just simply look for an old shoe box in your storage room and place it in the same manner.

You may also use a pen cup that has compartments which can be bought from any office supply store and simply lay your scrapbooking pens on its side to have easy and accessible storage. This can also be substituted by tin cans, plastic pencil cases, make-up organizers and/or clear acrylic boxes.

Organizing your pens by color provides ease in finding complimentary colors and in scrapbooking; color is known to be the key in layout design. You may sort out colors in this order: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Naturals/White and Grey/Black. You may also organize it according to its thickness and type.

Are you looking for some funny or appropriate titles for girls scrapbook pages? It’s a great idea to put some titles and journaling on any scrapbook layout you’ve made, and of course when you are designing an album for girls, adding cute titles can really enhance the scrapbook album.

Of course some scrapbookers make the mistake of using phrases that are too “girly” for their titles for girl’s scrapbook pages. That is okay if the girl you are honoring is actually girly herself, but many girls are very into sports or would prefer to be known for their academics and grades rather than for their doll collection. Carefully select and choose your titles for girls scrapbook pages and be sure you include something that she will really love rather than what you want. Most people expect to hand down their scrapbooks to the next generation so of course you want something she’ll enjoy looking at for years to come!

Here are some quick scrapbooking ideas for titles for girls scrapbook pages to get you started:

100% Genuine Girl
About a Girl
Sleeping Beauty
Best Friends Forever
Girls gone wild
Little Girls = Lots of Love
Girls Will Be Girls
More Spice than sugar
Mother and Daughter
Girls Only
Spoiled Rotten
Sweet 16
Mommy’s Girl
7 Going on 17
Totally Cute
Such a Girl
Lovely Lady

When you are adding titles for girls scrapbook pages to your layouts, make sure you do not distract from the photo or memento. You might dress it up with a fancy font or make one particular word larger than the others to have it stand out. Don’t make all the words and letters too large or fancy. This makes your page layout look busy and crowded and can really detract from the overall design of your scrapbooking page.

You will want to get your daughter or whomever you are making the page for involved in creating and adding titles for girls scrapbook pages. Get her feedback on what she would like and would appreciate in her album. She may even have some suggestions of her own! She may come up with a great idea for birthday scrapbooking titles or other funny scrapbooking sayings and titles.Perhaps she often uses a saying or phrase that is popular with all the kids right now. Including these kinds of phrases as titles for girls scrapbook pages can capture someone’s memory of that circle of friends, particular age or grade in school. Just keep these guidelines in mind when making any scrapbook page and you’re sure to create something that you truly love.

Scrapbook Layouts on a Budget

Filed under: Scrapbooking Tips — Kelli Morris at 4:32 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2009 | No Comments »

Scrapbooking can be a very expensive hobby.  However, there are several ways that you can start scrapbooking on a budget today.Regular household items can be used, including things that you normally would throw out.  Here are a few ideas that will keep more money in your pocketbook, as well as help you recycle items that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

1.Cardboard Food and Cereal Boxes

If you have a die cut machine that can cut chipboard, such as the Cricut Cutter, don’t waste your money on expensive chipboard.  Instead, use food containers, such as cereal boxes. After you cover them in colorful scrapbook paper, you will never know that it came from your pantry!  If you do not have a die cut machine, you can use cookie cutters instead, to cut the box and paper into the desired shapes.

2.  Wallpaper Scraps

Many wallpaper designs are as beautiful as the pricey papers in the scrapbooking stores.Make friends with the folks at your neighborhood paint and wallpaper stores, and request that they hold discontinued sample books for you.  Keep in mind, however, that the adhesive on these samples may not be acid-free.  Although they may not be suitable for your pictures, they can be used for other projects, such as making cards.

3.  Wrapping Paper

Think of all the beautiful wrapping paper you have thrown out over the years.  Recycle it by using it for your scrapbook projects. When you attend birthdays, weddings, graduations, and other special events, have a bag handy to collect the discarded wrapping paper..

4.  Fabric and Ribbon Scraps

If sewing is another one of your hobbies, you already know that fabric and ribbon scraps are the perfect complement to your paper crafting projects.  Many of these fabric and ribbon scraps are too small for sewing, yet are the perfect size for accenting handmade cards and more.  Ask your friends and family members that sew to keep a small container nearby to collect their scraps for you.

5.  School Supplies

Many of the products in the scrapbooking aisle are simply embellished school supplies.  School supplies cost far less, though, and can be easily modified for scrapbook projects.  For example, instead of buying the colorful brads at the scrapbooking store, pick up a box of paper fasteners. You can paint them with acrylics, glue on embellishments, and jazz them up in a number of ways.

With a little imagination and creative thinking, you will surely find even more common household goods that you can use for scrapbooking on a budget.  Make sure you always have a container handy, so when you come across things you can use for your projects, you have a place to put them.
