Scrapbooking with Marion

The art of scrapbooking dates as far back as to the sixteenth century and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Scrapbooking can be defined as the act of someone gathering different types or memorabilia, including, photos, notes, letters, poems and even trinkets and then compiling these objects in the form of a scrapbook. There are several reasons why scrapbooking is so popular. Firstly, it serves as a pleasant reminder of past good times and then it’s also an entertaining and relaxing hobby. Finally, it is quite affordable making it accessible to just about anybody.

The first idea is a baby keepsake book, these make an excellent gift for expectant mothers or for newborn babies. Even better, if you are having a baby yourself or have just given birth, you can create a baby keepsake book to jot down all your feelings and the wide range of emotions on the lead up to the birth and there after. Add clippings of their hair and hand/foot prints to give it that unique personal touch.

3. Quickutz Inc.

Quickutz Inc. was founded in 2000 by Natasha Hixon.  Natasha was searching for a way to create cut-out letters without having to hand trace or use a big industrial die-cutting machine. Hence the Quickutz personal die-cutting system was born.  Quickutz offers a variety of dies, however, unlike Spellbinders if you want to cut, emboss, and stencil you might find yourself purchasing multiple dies. Most Quickutz die-cuts do not offer a triple function, but if you will be doing projects where you will only be cutting, then Quickutz dies are the most affordable dies on the market.  Also if you are a collector and like new dies they are a die-cutting company that release new dies every month.

Find some paper that has pretty or creative designs on it or different textures. You will need some glue stick and some PVA craft glue (both of which must be acid free as this can damage the paper or photos). Finally, purchase a few tools to help you with your scrapbooking, such as cutters, trimmers and scissors. Brands like EK and Fiskars produce good quality tools.

Now you can begin assembling your scrapbook. Give your scrap book extra texture by adding dried flowers, buttons or beads for example. The fun part is that you don’t have to rush when you are scrapbooking, take your time, relax and enjoy it

Tips for Organizing Your Scrapbook Supplies

Are you new to scrapbooking?  Is it a hobby that you like more each day?  If so, you may need to increase your scrapbook supplies.  Amateurs have a tendency to start out tiny, but as your quality gets better, so may your ideas.  Unfortunately, the more scrapbook supplies you buy, the harder you will find it to remain organized.

Prior to focusing on ways that you can organize your scrapbook supplies, you should know why it is important to do so.  For starters, organization can improve your scrapbook quality.  You could have found a neat sticker sheet for Valentine’s Day, but if you can’t find it, you may opt for your second choice.

Speaking of which, that brings us to another benefit of being organized, saving money.  If you can’t find an item that you acquired, because of being unorganized, you’ll purchase another.  This can result in you spending pointless money.  And, when you finally do find what you wanted, you won’t use it again.

How, then, are you able to keep your scrapbooking supplies organized?  In all truth, your options are unlimited.  One favored approach is to get clear plastic storage drawers.  Inside each drawer you can store your scrapbook supplies.  As an example, one drawer can house all of your paper, another your photos, another your stickers, and another your other supplies,eg scissors, adhesives, and markers.

You may rely on the employment of ziplock bags.  They come in a variety of different sizes, so almost all of your scrapbook supplies should fit within.  Have one bag for your stickers, one for your markers, one for your glue, and so on.  If you’ve got a large collection of stickers, sort them.  For instance, place all Xmas stickers in one bag and Easter stickers in another.  Once filled, all these ziplock bags can be stored in a card box.

Should you be new to scrapbooking and haven’t begun to develop an enormous collection of scrapbook supplies, an expanding storage case or poly envelope can take care of the things.  This stuff are very cheap and can even be included in a beginner’s’s scrapbooking kit.  As you increase your supplies, you can inspect other alternatives if you find yourself limited on room.

If you are an enthusiastic or professional scrapbooker, you also have the choice of purchasing put away away tables.  These tables not only give you a workstation, but concealed compartments for you to store your scrapbooking supplies.  As for why this product is best left for avid or pro scrapbookers, it is because they are expensive.  A put away away table for scrapbooking can easily cost a couple of hundred dollars.

As well as organizing your bought scrapbook supplies, you also have to keep your photographs organized.  There are a number of advantages to doing so.  One of those benefits isn’t missing anything.  If you are making a scrapbook in chronological order, you could be discontentment when you later found a photograph too late.  When your photographs are arranged, this may not be a problem.

How, then, should you arrange your photographs?  It relies on the flow of your scrapbook.  As formerly said if you do a book in sequential order, start with the photographs you will use first, for example your baby’s first year.  If you have a hundred or more photographs, a pile could be out of the question.  Standard pictures fit into ziplock bags, so use them .  In accordance with chronological order, label each bag with the year.

in addition to organizing your scrapbooking supplies and photographs, also organize your workstation.  If you’re like many hobbyists, you will make your scrapbooks at your kitchen table.  This is OK, but keep your table clear.  This allows you to spread out your scrapbook supplies, ensuring you do not miss anything significant.  If you only have a set amount of time to scrapbook, stop early for cleanup.  Ensure all your supplies go into their appointed section.

As mentioned above, keeping your scrapbook supplies arranged is a very simple process, especially since you have so many possibilities.
