Everyone enjoys looking at photos and memorabilia that have been preserved in a beautifully made scrapbook album. While many people would like to try displaying their own memories in such a fashion, they don’t feel they have enough artistic ability to be successful. With the scrapbooking kits that are now widely available, no one has to risk producing a boring, unattractive album.

Die cuts are often part of scrabooking kits or can be purchased on their own. They may be used as backgrounds for photos or journaling and make the pages appear to pop. Die cuts can enhance the theme of a scrapbook or serve as attractive filler when materials are still being collected for an album. For example, an album of class pictures might contain die cuts of open books, school houses, etc. The die-cuts could be placed on pages in anticipation of the school pictures yet to be taken. Borders and headings could be completed in advance so that photos could be added later on. This would make an album seem like an interesting work in progress rather than simply another incomplete project.

An example of using die cuts for a themed album would be mounting Christmas photos on shapes like Christmas trees, holly, candy canes, etc. They add a little pizazz without taking a great deal of time. Die cuts can be placed on top of each other to add depth. This creates an illusion of three-dimensional art that can be more stunning than flat two-dimensional designs.

The possible uses for die cuts are limited only by the scrapbookers imagination. Their time saving factor makes die cuts well worth including in an album. Using shortcuts like this will allow scrapbookers to complete more projects without sacrificing beauty or detail. Try die cuts to see what they can do for your next album!
