Planning a Scrapbook Retreat

Is it feeling like a good time to get some friends together and divert your attention from work and family issues to something you all enjoy? Then it may be time for a scrapbook retreat! Retreats are usually planned to allow for a weekend of girl time as well as opportunities to get caught up on scrapbooking your latest photos without the distractions of home. The retreat itself can be a valuable addition to every scrapbookers collection of memories.

Scrapbooking retreats are an excellent place to acquire new ideas from friends and pass around unwanted supplies. Your trash may be someone else’s treasure, so to speak. Bring a basket of items you no longer have a desire to use and have a swap table.

Would you and your friends prefer a local place or can you go a greater distance from home? Are you interested in a beach/lake getaway or something in the mountains or woods? Maybe you’d just like to book a couple of rooms at a nearby hotel and take advantage of available conference room space.

Check the amenities offered at the locations you prefer and make sure they are suitable for what you’ll need to scrapbook. Is lighting sufficient? Are there enough outlets? Is there plenty of room to set up tables? When planning a retreat, many book a local manicurist or massage therapist to come do spa treatments at a group rate!

What will you do about meals? Do you plan to eat out or would you and your friends like to divide meals and cook for each other? You may want to also make a list of who will bring which snacks, paper towels, cleaning products, coolers, dvds, music, etc. so everyone doesn’t have to bring duplicates of everything. A little forethought can make for an efficient getaway.

Ask for ideas on good retreat locations and fun ideas for your weekend at your local scrapbook store. You’re sure to find some fantastic places for a fabulous and affordable weekend.
