Scrapbooking has surpassed golf as the number one most popular liesure pursuit. People have become such avid fans of srapbooking because it is a creative outlet and a means of preserving family history. Here are a few tips to consider:

1. Captions and journal writing may be done by hand for a personal touch or scrapbookers can choose to use their computer. There are many programs available with fonts designed to compliment various scrapbook styles, or you may simply want to use a font you like from Microsoft Word. You can choose from many color inks if you want something livelier than black. Trim and mount on card stock for added emphasis.

2. Think twice before tossing leftover bits of paper. They can be used for matting, photo corners, collages, accents, or decorative confetti.

3. If you trace letters, one way to insure their are no pencil marks is to trace the letters on the back side of your paper in reverse.

4. Photo mosaics will add a unique look to your album pages. Cut photos into different shapes and sizes then mat them putting even spaces around each piece as you paste them. Always keep a copy of the photo that you use for your mosaic.

5. Do you floss regularly? Well, if you have any old magnetic albums you should! They are the worst place to store your precious photographs. If you don’t have time to work with them right away, use dental floss to slide underneath the photo and safely remove it from the page. If you can’t buy acid free photo boxes, store the photos in a shoe box until you can preserve them properly. They will be much safer in a shoe box than a magnetic album.

6. Use washable ink on baby’s hands and feet to decorate a page for the baby book. You will treasure this lasting impression.
