Beginner Scrapbooking Ideas

The less creative among us often wonder what we scrapbookers find so appealing about our hobby. It’s time consuming. It’s space consuming. It’s costly. It’s only for artsy people. Right? Wrong. It can be all of the above, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are just a few beginner scrapbooking ideas:
1. A motivation that appeals to all scrapbookers is organization. We want to keep our photographs archived, either in a scrapbook or other photo safe storage for easy retrieval. What good are photographs if you can never find them?
2. Preservation is another shared concern. We want to be sure our family memories are kept in such a way that they can be enjoyed for decades to come.
3. Artisitic expression is a benefit of scrapbooking. There are those who are talented enough to publish their pages, but there are plenty more who do it for their own enjoyment and creative outlet.
4. Recording milestones is a benefit to scrapbooking. Keeping track of all the “firsts” from babyhood through adulthood keeps those memories alive.
5. Scrapbooking also enables us to record a family history through journaling about the photos. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a few words go a long way toward explaining a picture. How many of us have looked through a grandmother’s old photo album or scrapbook and wondered who the people were and what they were doing? Journaling ensures the people and purpose of the photographs won’t be a lost link to the past.
These are just a few beginner scrapbooking ideas. There are many more rasons scrapbookers love their hobby.
